L STREET EDISON POWER STATION

The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) will host a series of community planning events to discuss the redevelopment of the L Street Edison Power Plant, 776 Summer Street, South Boston. Earlier last year Exelon sold the property to Redgate/Hilco who intend on developing the 15 acre site with a mix of uses and new open space. This planning initiative is intended to engage the South Boston community and determine their interests and aspirations related to housing, transportation, public realm improvements, cultural facilities and placemaking. The process will inform the development plan for the site and future zoning. The BPDA will host an Open House on January 18th to initiate the planning process, followed by walking tours of the power plant on January 21st and 28th, in preparation for two community charrettes in February. The identical charrettes will be held at different times to accommodate varied schedules and provide the opportunity for community members to weigh in on planning issues and opportunities. More detail will be provided at the open house event on January 18th. Planning Schedule: January 18th, Open House – Public Meeting 6 PM to 8 PM, 22 Drydock Avenue, 3rd Floor, Ray Flynn Marine Park, South Boston Validated parking available at EDIC Parking Garage, 12 Drydock Ave. January 21st, Walking Tour Time TBA, L Street Edison Power Station, 776 Summer Street January 28th, Walking Tour Time TBA, L Street Edison Power Station, 776 Summer Street February 8th, Charrette Time & Location TBA February 11th, Charrette Time & Location TBA
